Sparta Global
Software Development Engineer & Testing (SDET)
Training

January 2017 - March 2017

Sparta Global is an innovative IT services provider across a wide range of industry sectors. From early January I did a training course at Sparta Global called SDET (Software Development Engineering & Testing). This was a 12 week training course where I learnt a variety of Software Development and testing skills. In this course I learnt Database design and SQL. From this course I also gained a basic understanding of languages such as HTML 5, CSS, JSON, XML and Restful APIS. For one of our projects I created a CV website to help me get a better understanding of these languages. I learnt what GitHub was and how to use it for project collaboration. From the testing side I learnt about the Agile methodology and we did a testing project which covered all the agile ceremonies. For the software development side I learnt how to use Ruby for object oriented programming. To help us get a better understanding of Ruby we did a project where we used test driven development to build a ruby app with RSpec. We then started using Ruby for automation using the tools Selenium and Watir. Using these tools we then wrote an automated test suite for an API we previously made. Lastly we learnt cucumber and we used this tool with Ruby to design automation frameworks by abstracting page data into classes and interacting with databases.

Kartell UK
Data Entry Clerk
September 2016 - October 2016

Kartell UK are a Heating and Bathroom supplier. They are one of the key suppliers of leading brands to the UK, Irish and French heating markets. Kartell UK currently work alongside an American company called Wayfair who sell Kartell’s products on their website. My job was to capture information of Kartell’s product range through product brochures and populate an Excel spreadsheet with key item data. In my role I also had to speak to product experts who provided information which was not available in the brochures. The plan was to upload the data to Wayfair so they could provide potential clients with accurate product information. I was very efficient in my role and I was able to get the majority of the spreadsheet completed quicker than expected.

SEPT
Telephone Calling Role

June 2015

SEPT is the South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. They are a NHS Trust that provides community health, mental health and learning disability services for a population of approximately 2.5 million people throughout Bedfordshire, Essex and Luton. During this assignment I was working in the Admin department. My primary role was to analyse the phone bills received by SEPT to ensure they were liable for the cost of each call. The bills included calls and charges made by a number of companies. I had to contact the companies to confirm they were responsible for the bill and to ensure payments were authorised for calls related to SEPT. One bill in particular was very expensive and the department was unable to confirm who was liable for this huge amount. After several days, and through my perseverance, I managed to get in touch with this company. They confirmed that they were liable for the bill and SEPT was glad we came to a successful conclusion.

Asendia UK
Data Entry Clerk

June 2015

Asendia are a company who process orders on behalf of their clients and ship the items to customers. My main duty was to ensure the customer detail records were up to date in the online database. I used to receive new data on a daily basis in the form of an Excel spreadsheet. New records were entered into the database using custom developed forms which took care of data validation. In addition to this, I processed cheque and credit card payments, which were recorded against the customer invoice, to confirm the amount received together with the method of payment. I was very efficient in my duties and I managed to complete my tasks earlier than expected ultimately saving Asendia money.
